Upgrading Crashplan by Org

  • 1.  Upgrading Crashplan by Org

Hi All - I'm upgrading our users from 5.4.2 to 6.0.3 and it seems the method of upgrading by Org no longer works:

Upgrade the Code42 app from version 4.x to version 6.x

I prefer to upgrade by Org instead of all at once to prevent impact to our network (we ran into this issue when upgrading from 4 to 5). Anyone care to share any ideas or solutions that worked a large company?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Justin and welcome to the Code42 community!

The instructions to upgrade by org in Upgrade the Code42 app from version 4.x to version 6.x are specifically for controlling the upgrade from the v4 Java-based client to the v5+ HTML5-based client. If you've allowed the v5 HTML5-based client, any v5 clients will upgrade to v6.

If your primary goal is to control bandwidth during the upgrade, we recommend a pre-staging process, where you use your client management tool to deploy the client upgrade files to each device during off-peak hours. There are instructions here:

    https://support.code42.com/Administrator/Upgrade/Pre-stage_the_Code42_app_upgrade

That said, if you're running into something that isn't working, definitely file a support case so a Customer Champion can take a look.
