Crash Plan Inclusions - Nested Beneath Defined Excluded Folders

We settled on a group of exclusions at our Org level that cover most of our users. Later we discovered an explicit inclusion we want to add (also at the Org level) that resides under the defined excluded folder.
    Exclusion _Example

    e.g. a folder beneath …/AppData/Local

We haven't found a way to define this. Has anyone else out there done this successfully?

    Hi,

There is no way to accomplish this.

You will have to include the folder and exclude all the subfolders you don't want. I know, its messy and a lot of work. I had to do it for C:\programdata because code42 put the usmt folder there by default. I now have to do it for Program Files, because Lotus Notes stores its DBs in the installation folder.

If you have only a single folder you want to include under the excluded folder, then this is possible with reverse regex. This line will back up .pst files under AppData, even with AppData excluded in another line:

    (?i).*/AppData/Local(?!(/Microsoft/Outlook/.*\.pst|/Microsoft/Outlook/$|/Microsoft/$|/$)).*

Perhaps try something like this.... which I am experimenting with.

Remove the parent exclusion then adapt this for your purpose:

    (?i).*/AppData/(?!(Roaming/Microsoft/Signatures/|Local/Microsoft/Outlook/|Roaming/Mozilla/Firefox/|Local/Google/Chrome/User Data/Default/bookmarks)).*

    YMMV.  Hope this helps!

    Kassy,

You didn't mention the name of the folder, so this may or may not work, but with some Microsoft folders, you can change the location by editing the registry.  If that's the case then you could move it so it's no longer under an excluded folder.
